The Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh was founded in 1974 as one of the first shelters for battered woman in the United States. Since then, the Women’s Center & Shelter has been at the forefront of the Battered Women’s Movement, creating and implementing innovative and effective programming aimed at preventing domestic violence and providing services to domestic violence victims. The Women’s Center and Shelter offers comprehensive support and services to its women clients including emergency shelter, individual and group support, legal advocacy and programs for child victims and witnesses of abuse. Charity: TREAT
The Three Rivers Eastern Area Tournament (TREAT) is the Pittsburgh-based member in the International Gay Bowling Organization, a non-profit organization that provides education, communications and opportunities to promote the sport of bowling and to enrich the lives of individuals through leagues and tournaments worldwide. For more than 20 years, TREAT has raised money for local charities and community groups. The visibility of their biennial intramural bowling tournament – Pittsburgh’s Amazing Bowling Race – is one of the oldest gay bowling tournaments in the country, drawing domestic and international participants.
