Event Details

WHAT: A wild and wacky race involving dozens of teams of two (families, friends, sponsored co-workers or customers, children, grandmothers and grandfathers, and all sorts in between) performing bowling-themed challenges at bowling lanes all in a grand clue-based race for exciting gifts and prizes. Plus, there will be festivities, refreshments, and entertainment to be enjoyed by participants at task stops, and closing festivities. It will be an entire day of fun like Pittsburgh has never seen before.


WHEN: Start time is Saturday, July 18th, 9:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM, followed with closing festivities lasting until the early evening.


WHY: To raise money and awareness for the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and the biennial TREAT/IGBO Bowling Tournament, and to showcase the Pittsburgh-area through a challenging and out-of-the-ordinary event.


WHO: Benefiting the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, which provides free and confidential services including 24-hour crisis hotline, temporary shelter, ongoing individual counseling and support, advocacy and support services for women victims of domestic violence and their children. The Center and Shelter also provide school and community education and professional training on the scope and dynamics of domestic violence.


Assisting the Three Rivers Eastern Area Tournament (TREAT) and the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO), a non-profit organization. IGBO provides educational services, communication avenues, and social opportunities to promote the sport of bowling and to enrich lives of individuals through leagues and tournaments Worldwide. TREAT, a IGBO Member Tournament, has been raising money for local charities for over twenty years. To date, TREAT’s largest fundraiser has been it’s biennial weekend intramural tournament drawing national and international bowlers to the Pittsburgh region in one of the country’s oldest gay bowling tournaments. In addition to fundraising, this event brings tourist dollars and visibility to the Pittsburgh area. Involves Various Sponsors, Chairpersons and Honored Guests, and anyone who loves having fun on a beautiful Pittsburgh summer day doing something wild, different, and fun!


WHERE: Downtown Pittsburgh, Lawrenceville, Squirrel Hill, Mt. Lebanon, Greentree, and various other task locations that highlight our great landmarks, beautiful cityscapes, and interesting neighborhoods and boroughs in and around the Pittsburgh city core. The Start Point will be located in the South Hills and end at Mt. Lebanon Lanes, with major challenge stops throughout the city.


HOW: Prizes will be determined by the order of finish, with first place team winning $1000, with other prize amounts awarded to lower-place finishes. This non-profit event will raise thousands of dollars for the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and TREAT.
